Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said the Bhagwant Mann-led government has transferred over ₹2,697.44 crore directly to beneficiaries under various social security schemes through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
She said more than 36 lakh people across the state are currently receiving benefits under different welfare programmes. For the current financial year, the government has allocated ₹6,131.91 crore for social security schemes aimed at supporting senior citizens, widows, persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups.
Dr. Kaur directed officials to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out and stressed transparent and timely implementation of welfare schemes across Punjab. She reiterated the government's commitment to building an inclusive and prosperous “Rangla Punjab.”
