Ferozepur Police on Saturday arrested Inspector Baldev Singh, who had previously served in the Counter Intelligence wing, after recovering 3.35 kilograms of heroin, six pistols, four magazines, and 17 live cartridges from his possession.
According to police, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ghall Khurd Police Station received specific information that Baldev Singh was transporting narcotics and illegal weapons in his Audi car (PB-05-AC-6517). Acting on the tip-off, police teams set up a checkpoint and intercepted the vehicle.
During the search, officers allegedly recovered 3.35 kg of heroin along with six pistols, four magazines, and 17 cartridges. The police also seized the Audi car and six mobile phones from the accused.
A case has been registered at Ghall Khurd Police Station under FIR No. 132. The charges have been filed under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
Police said further investigation is underway, and the accused is being questioned to ascertain the source of the seized drugs and weapons and to identify any possible links to a larger network.
