Punjab NRI Affairs Minister Ravjot Singh and UK MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi met in Chandigarh on Saturday to discuss key issues concerning the Punjabi diaspora, including air connectivity, property disputes, investment and the safety of overseas Punjabis.

Meeting focused on increasing international flights from Amritsar and Chandigarh airports and strengthening direct connectivity with London, Birmingham and other European cities. The leaders also stressed the need for better cargo infrastructure to boost trade, tourism, agriculture and investment in Punjab.

Dhesi raised concerns over delays in NRI property disputes, property fraud, cybercrime, threats and extortion faced by Punjabi businesspersons and professionals abroad. He called for time-bound resolution of such cases and better coordination with central security agencies.

The reopening of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor and ensuring smooth movement of pilgrims were also discussed.

Ravjot Singh assured that the Punjab Government would continue to take up issues concerning overseas Punjabis at the appropriate level.
