Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence (CI) Ferozepur, in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), recovered 44.5 kg of heroin and 3 kg of Methamphetamine (ICE drug) from the border area of Gajniwala village in Firozpur, officials said on Tuesday.
According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the narcotics consignment was allegedly airdropped by a drone from across the border. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police and BSF teams launched a search operation and recovered the drugs from agricultural fields near the Indo-Pak border.
IGP Counter Intelligence Ashish Choudhary said investigations are underway to identify the smugglers and their Indian associates who were expected to receive the consignment. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at SSOC Fazilka against unknown persons.
