Punjab Police conducted 570 raids at identified locations linked to associates of gangsters across the state on Thursday, as the ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign entered its 226th day.
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026. Police teams from all districts have been carrying out coordinated operations in collaboration with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF).
On Day 226, police arrested 249 individuals and recovered three weapons. With this, the total number of arrests made under the campaign has reached 67,639 since its launch.
Police also initiated preventive action against 294 persons and arrested 17 Proclaimed Offenders (POs) during the statewide operation.
Punjab Police has urged citizens to share information about wanted criminals, gangsters and criminal activities anonymously through the Anti-Gangster Helpline at 93946-93946.
Meanwhile, Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign, ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 551st day.
Police arrested 131 drug smugglers during the day and recovered 2.7 kg of heroin, 470 grams of opium, 1,062 intoxicant pills and ₹7,120 in drug money from their possession.
The total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has now reached 76,982 in 551 days.
As part of its de-addiction efforts, Punjab Police also persuaded 13 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on Thursday.
