Punjab Police on Saturday conducted 584 raids at identified locations linked to associates of gangsters as part of its ongoing ‘War Against Gangster’ campaign, which entered its 228th day.
The campaign was launched by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on January 20, 2026, with the objective of making Punjab a gangster-free state. Police teams from across the state, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), have been carrying out special operations against gangsters and their associates.
On Day 228, police arrested 250 individuals, taking the total number of arrests under the campaign to 68,115. Preventive action was also initiated against 232 persons, while nine Proclaimed Offenders (POs) were arrested during the operation.

76 Drug Smugglers Arrested Under ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’
Meanwhile, Punjab Police continued its anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 553rd day. Police arrested 76 drug smugglers and recovered 967 grams of heroin, 300 grams of opium, 7,361 intoxicant pills and ₹2,650 in drug money.
With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers arrested under the campaign has reached 77,183 in 553 days. As part of its de-addiction efforts, police also motivated 16 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.
