In view of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15, Punjab Police has intensified security preparations across the state. A high-level meeting led by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav was held in Mohali on Tuesday to review the range-level law and order situation and strengthen security arrangements.
Senior police officers and personnel from the Rupnagar Range, which includes Rupnagar, SAS Nagar (Mohali), and Fatehgarh Sahib, participated in the meeting.
The DGP directed all officers to remain on 24x7 alert mode and ensure foolproof security arrangements during the national celebrations.
Four key focus areas decided in the meeting
Direct interaction with officers and ground staff
DGP Yadav held discussions with police officers and field personnel to gather their inputs on security challenges. He encouraged the force to perform their duties with alertness, confidence, and complete dedication.
Emphasis on visible policing
Instructions were issued to increase police presence on roads, public places, and sensitive areas. Officers were also asked to strengthen coordination among different units to ensure effective monitoring and response.
Quick action strategy
The police leadership stressed the need for swift and strict action in the event of any untoward incident or security challenge. Emergency response mechanisms and coordination among agencies were reviewed during the meeting.
Punjab Police on 24x7 alert
The DGP said that Punjab Police is fully prepared to maintain peace, security, and communal harmony across the state. Special security arrangements are being put in place for Independence Day celebrations, and all police units and associated agencies have been instructed to remain fully vigilant.
DGP assures citizens of safety
Reiterating the force's commitment, DGP Gaurav Yadav said that Punjab Police is committed to the safety and security of every citizen of the state and that all agencies are fully alert to deal with any unforeseen situation during the Independence Day period.
