A Punjab Roadways bus collided with a truck while the vehicles were negotiating the uphill stretch of the Dhaburji Flyover in Amritsar on Wednesday.

Several passengers were travelling on the bus at the time of the accident.

Some passengers suffered minor injuries and scratches in the collision. Fortunately, no one sustained serious injuries. After receiving first aid, the passengers continued their journey to their respective destinations.

According to truck driver Gurdial Singh, who was travelling from Bathinda towards Ajnala in Amritsar, the truck was carrying heavy goods. When it reached the uphill section of the Dhaburji Flyover, the Punjab Roadways bus approaching from behind collided with its rear portion.

Singh said the impact broke the straps attached to the rear body of the truck and also damaged the truck's loading section. The front portion of the bus was damaged in the collision.

Punjab Roadways bus driver Gopal Singh said the bus belonged to the Patti Roadways depot and was travelling from Patti in Tarn Taran to Jammu. He alleged that the truck driver suddenly began reversing the vehicle while climbing the flyover.

According to Gopal Singh, he had very little time to react as the truck suddenly rolled backwards. Before he could bring the bus to a complete stop, the rear of the truck struck the front portion of the bus.

The collision caused panic among passengers. Some of those seated in the front section of the bus sustained minor scratches and light injuries. However, no serious injuries were reported.

Following first aid and the necessary assessment at the spot, the passengers resumed their journey.
