A Punjabi man living in Surrey, Canada, has won a life-changing C$3.2 million jackpot in the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw, with the prize amount equivalent to around ₹216–217 crore at the current exchange rate.

The massive win has brought celebrations among members of the Punjabi community in Canada.

Amritpal Singh purchased the winning ticket in Surrey for the September 19, 2026, draw. However, when he first checked his ticket, he believed he had won around C$32,000.

According to the details released by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), Amritpal scanned his ticket using a mobile app while sitting in his car. After checking it several times, he realised that he had actually won the C$3.2 million Gold Ball jackpot.

Once his win was confirmed, Amritpal's first call was to his sister to share the news.

Speaking about the unexpected windfall, Amritpal said the win would change his life. He said his first priority was to provide financial support to his parents and sister.

He also plans to purchase a house for his family and buy several vehicles. Among his plans is to purchase his dream car, a Dodge Challenger.

Amritpal travelled to the BCLC office in Vancouver on September 23 to claim his prize. The lottery corporation publicly announced his jackpot win on September 29.

For security reasons, details about Amritpal's address in Punjab have not been disclosed.
