A Punjabi singer was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside his house in Ludhiana on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Baljit Singh, who was not only a singer but also wrote songs.
The incident took place in Sudhar Patti Dhaliwal village under the Sudhar police station area. According to preliminary information, residents had been noticing a foul smell coming from the house for several days. When the smell intensified, they informed the police.
The Sudhar police reached the spot and, with the help of local residents, opened the door of the house. Baljit Singh's body was found lying on a bed inside. The body had reportedly started decomposing, leading police to suspect that the death may have occurred around four to five days ago.
Dried blood was also reportedly found near the body, although the exact cause and circumstances of the death remain unclear.
Given the suspicious nature of the case, teams from the forensic department, dog squad and CIA also reached the spot. Police have launched a search of the house and surrounding area and are examining CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify people who may have visited or passed by the house in recent days.
Investigating officials said the body was recovered from the bed and that the exact cause of death will be established after the post-mortem examination. Police are investigating the case from all possible angles.
