Several passengers were injured after a Rajasthan Roadways bus rammed into two accident-hit dumpers on the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway-48 near Rugh village in Bawal on Friday morning. The accident took place on a flyover amid heavy rainfall. Around 27 passengers were travelling on the bus. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.
According to preliminary information, two dumpers travelling from Jaipur towards Delhi had collided with each other on the Rugh flyover. Following the collision, both vehicles remained stranded on the road. Meanwhile, a Rajasthan Roadways bus coming from Jaipur towards Delhi crashed into the stationary dumpers.
The impact was so severe that the front portion of the bus was badly damaged, triggering panic among passengers. Several people sustained injuries and were rushed to Jain Hospital in Bawal for treatment.
Passengers said heavy rainfall had reduced visibility, as water had accumulated on the bus's windshield, making it difficult for the driver to see the road ahead. As a result, the driver allegedly failed to notice the damaged dumpers standing on the highway in time.
The bus driver also alleged that no warning signs or adequate safety arrangements had been put in place to alert approaching motorists about the earlier accident involving the two dumpers.
Following the incident, ambulances from private hospitals reached the spot and shifted the injured passengers to Jain Hospital. According to Dr Deepak Jain, the injured are undergoing treatment and none of them is currently in critical condition.
Kasola police also reached the spot after receiving information about the accident and initiated an investigation.
The incident has raised serious questions about highway safety measures and the lack of proper warning arrangements at accident sites, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
