In a major breakthrough in the high-profile murder case of kabaddi promoter Rana Balachauria, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has brought the key accused, Aditya alias Makhan, to Mohali after arresting him from Tripura.
The accused was secured on transit remand and transported to Mohali, where he is currently being questioned by investigators. Police officials said he will be produced before a local court to seek further remand for detailed interrogation.
Earlier, the AGTF had arrested three other suspects from Kolkata in connection with the case. During questioning, they revealed critical information about Aditya alias Makhan, including his hideout, which helped the police track and arrest him.
Balachauria, a well-known kabaddi promoter, was shot dead in broad daylight in Mohali, sparking panic in the area. Preliminary investigations indicated the involvement of gangsters in the murder, with Aditya believed to have played a central role in planning and executing the crime.
Police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full conspiracy and identify other individuals involved in the murder.
