A case of alleged sacrilege has been reported from Ward No. 10 in Malout, where torn pages of Gutka Sahib (a Sikh religious scripture) were found scattered in Gali No. 4 of Indira Basti on Thursday. This is being considered the first such incident since the implementation of the new law against sacrilege.

According to local residents, the scattered pages were carefully collected and kept safe before the police were informed. Acting promptly, DSP Harjeet Singh Mann and SHO Harpreet Singh reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

Preliminary information suggests that the area where the incident occurred is primarily inhabited by people engaged in scrap-related work. A local resident, Jagir Singh, along with his friend, gathered the scattered pages and respectfully placed them in a nearby Gurudwara Sahib for safekeeping.

Police have registered a case against unknown individuals and have begun further investigation to identify those responsible.
