Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, on the second day of the 11th India International Science Festival, called upon scientists to take science beyond laboratory walls and ensure its benefits reach every citizen. He said science brings true prosperity when it increases farmers’ crop yields, cures patients’ diseases, and empowers entrepreneurs.
During the event, CM Saini inaugurated the Students Science and Technology Village, referred to as the ‘New Nalanda of Modern India.’ He also visited the science exhibition and showed keen interest in the latest innovations.
CM Saini emphasized that science is not just a career option but a means of nation-building. Addressing students, youth, and scientists, he urged them to develop science-based development models that ensure quality life for every citizen and strengthen India’s global leadership.
He added that Haryana, though primarily an agricultural state, is emerging rapidly as a center of science, education, and innovation. The government is prioritizing STEM education, AI, robotics, cybersecurity, agri-tech, biotech, and space technology. Cities like Gurugram, Faridabad, Panchkula, and Hisar are becoming key IT and research hubs.
CM Saini also highlighted government initiatives to encourage students in science, including scholarships under the Science Talent Search scheme, awards for international science olympiad winners, and recognition of young scientists through the ‘Haryana Science Ratna’ and ‘Haryana Young Science Ratna’ awards.
The event was attended by scientists from national institutions, researchers, industry representatives, and students.
