Several buses belonging to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) were allegedly vandalised on Amritsar’s Heritage Street late Wednesday night.
The buses were parked on Heritage Street and are used to transport devotees to various gurdwaras and other religious sites. Following the incident, their windowpanes and other parts were found damaged.
CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows some people damaging the buses. Police have started examining the footage to identify the suspects and determine how the incident took place.
There is also a suspicion that the buses may have been fired upon. However, authorities have not officially confirmed any firing so far.
Police reached the spot after the incident and began collecting evidence. The motive behind the vandalism is not yet clear.
The SGPC buses play an important role in providing transportation to devotees visiting various religious destinations. The incident has raised concern among the SGPC and pilgrims.
