A man from the Shilai area of Sirmaur district was allegedly murdered by slitting his throat at Paonta Sahib late Monday night. The incident took place at a newly constructed parking site near Vishwakarma Chowk under the Paonta Sahib Municipal Council.

The deceased has been identified as Bhav Singh, son of Sahi Ram, a resident of Awat Koti Utru village in Shilai.

According to preliminary information, Bhav Singh ran a vegetable shop in Shilai and regularly travelled to Paonta Sahib in a pickup vehicle to purchase vegetables. He reportedly visited Paonta Sahib every third day.

After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and took possession of the body. CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being examined to identify the circumstances leading to the murder and trace the suspected attackers.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer Manvendra Thakur and Station House Officer Kulwant Singh, along with their teams, reached the scene and began investigating the case.

Sirmaur Superintendent of Police Nishchint Singh Negi confirmed the incident and said that a police team was investigating the matter. He said efforts were underway to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest.

The exact motive behind the killing is yet to be established.
