Education activist Sonam Wangchuk was taken to Safdarjung Hospital by Delhi Police on Saturday morning after completing 21 days of his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. The move triggered protests from supporters, leading to a brief commotion at the demonstration site.

Meanwhile, protester Abhijeet Dipke announced that he would begin a hunger strike from Saturday. Dipke alleged that he was assaulted and managed to escape police custody before returning to Jantar Mantar to join the protest.

Wangchuk has been on an indefinite fast demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged NEET paper leak case and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. According to protesters, his health has deteriorated significantly, with his body weight reportedly dropping by around 9.5 kilograms during the fast.

The development comes after the Delhi High Court, on Thursday, directed the Centre and the Delhi government to ensure Wangchuk undergoes daily medical examinations and receives immediate treatment if his condition requires medical intervention.
