A speeding car lost control and crashed into a roadside crash barrier near Sector 37D on the Dwarka Expressway in Gurugram on Wednesday afternoon. The impact was so severe that the car was thrown into the air before overturning in the middle of the road. One person travelling in the vehicle sustained serious injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, the car was being driven at a very high speed. Near the Sector 37D cut, the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. The car then rammed into and broke through the crash barrier before overturning.
Commuters passing through the Dwarka Expressway immediately rushed to the spot to help. After considerable effort, they managed to pull the injured person out of the wrecked vehicle. Police and an ambulance were informed, following which the injured person was shifted to a nearby private hospital.
Doctors said the injured person remains in critical condition and is currently undergoing treatment.
Police have so far been unable to establish the identity of the victim as no identification document or other identifying material was found on him. The injured person is unconscious at the hospital. Police are now trying to trace his family through the vehicle's registration number.
