Three young men were killed in a tragic road accident on the Maksudan Bypass Highway in Jalandhar on Saturday morning after a speeding Swift car crashed into a stationary truck and then rammed into a divider.

According to eyewitnesses, the Swift was travelling at a very high speed when it collided with a truck parked on the highway. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely crushed.

After hitting the truck, the vehicle reportedly went out of control and smashed into the road divider. The car was badly mangled, leaving all three occupants trapped inside. Local residents and police personnel had to make considerable efforts to pull the victims out of the wreckage.

The accident created panic in the area, and a large number of people gathered at the spot soon after the crash. Traffic on the busy highway was severely disrupted due to the damaged car and the truck standing on the road, resulting in long queues of vehicles on both sides.

Police said the truck driver abandoned the vehicle on the highway and fled from the scene immediately after the accident.

A police team reached the spot shortly after receiving information about the crash and began efforts to clear the damaged vehicles and restore traffic movement. With the help of local people, the bodies of the three youths were recovered from the car and sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be officially confirmed. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident and are also recording statements from eyewitnesses and other people present at the scene.
