Nearly 200 passengers staged a protest inside Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Tuesday after two SpiceJet flights bound for Dubai were delayed by more than 24 hours.
Frustrated by the prolonged wait, passengers sat on the airport floor and demanded clarity from the airline. Many travelers had been waiting since Monday, while the flight schedules were repeatedly revised without a clear explanation.
The first flight, SG 5111, was scheduled to depart from Delhi at 8:30 a.m. on Monday and arrive in Dubai at 11:15 a.m. The second flight, SG 5105, was scheduled to leave at 10:10 p.m. and reach Dubai at 12:55 a.m. However, both services remained grounded until Tuesday afternoon.
According to SpiceJet, the delays were caused by operational issues after one of its aircraft was grounded. The airline said it has begun making alternative travel arrangements for affected passengers and is accommodating them on other available flights.
A SpiceJet spokesperson apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers and said the airline is making every effort to ensure that travelers reach their destinations at the earliest.
The airline further stated that alternative flight options are being arranged and that all possible measures are being taken to minimize disruption for affected passengers.
