Indian stock market witnessed a sharp decline on Monday, October 19, with benchmark indices trading significantly lower amid heavy selling across key sectors.
The BSE Sensex fell nearly 1,000 points to trade at around 73,800, while the NSE Nifty dropped approximately 300 points to reach the 22,850 level.
IT, private banking and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) stocks were among the major laggards, witnessing significant selling pressure during the trading session.
The sharp fall in the benchmark indices reflects broad-based weakness in the market, with investors closely monitoring sectoral performance and overall market sentiment.
