A woman and her young son were injured after a pack of stray dogs attacked their scooter in Jalandhar while they were returning home from school. The child suffered a head injury and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
The incident took place in the New Kamal Vihar area of Jalandhar. According to reports, Akaldeep Kaur, a resident of GTB Nagar, had gone to pick up her nursery-going son Jaskirat from Innocent Hearts School after classes ended.
As they reached near New Kamal Vihar, a group of stray dogs suddenly charged at their scooter. Startled by the unexpected attack, Akaldeep Kaur lost control of the vehicle and the scooter skidded and fell on the road.
Both the mother and son sustained injuries in the fall. Local residents rushed to help them, and the child was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Residents allege that more than 30 stray dogs roam freely in the colony and frequently chase pedestrians and motorists, creating fear among people living in the area.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation has issued a notice to blacklist the contractor responsible for the construction of a dog pound, citing negligence in carrying out the work. The issue has once again raised concerns over the growing stray dog menace in the city and the delay in implementing effective animal control measures.
