Two motorcycle riders, who are related as brothers-in-law, were critically injured after a Scorpio SUV allegedly hit their bike and dragged it for nearly 100 metres on the Rohtak-Gohana National Highway near Kaith village on Friday.
The injured have been identified as Krishna (23), a resident of Kaith village, and Mahesh, a resident of Narnaul. According to villagers, the Scorpio was travelling from Shahpur towards Gohana with a family on board when the accident occurred near Kaith Chowk.
The two men were reportedly crossing the highway on a motorcycle when the SUV collided with them. The impact was so severe that the motorcycle got trapped underneath the vehicle and was dragged for about 100 metres before the SUV came to a stop near the divider.
Local residents rushed to the spot and shifted the injured men to the Women Medical College Hospital in Khanpur. After initial treatment, doctors referred both victims to PGI Rohtak due to the seriousness of their injuries.
Investigating officer Head Constable Vicky said the Scorpio has been taken into possession and an investigation into the incident is underway.
