A tragic incident has been reported from Punjab’s Nawanshahr district, where three young men allegedly consumed poison after one of them fell into severe depression following heavy losses in an online business. One of the youths has died, while doctors are closely monitoring the condition of the other two.
The incident took place in Garh Padhana (Garh Bhaganaa) village of Nawanshahr. According to local information, Dilpreet, a resident of the village, had been running an online business for some time. He reportedly suffered losses amounting to several lakh rupees and had accumulated substantial debt, which pushed him into deep mental stress and depression.
Unable to cope with the mounting financial burden, Dilpreet allegedly consumed sulphas tablets. After taking the poison, he reportedly went to the houses of his close friends, Paramjit and Maninder, and told them about the financial losses and his decision to consume poison.
The news left both friends shocked and emotionally distressed. In what is being described as an extreme act of emotional solidarity, Paramjit and Maninder also allegedly swallowed poisonous tablets, saying they wanted to stand by their friend in his suffering.
As soon as family members and villagers learned about the incident, panic spread through the village. All three youths were rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
During treatment, Paramjit Singh succumbed to the effects of the poison. The other two youths remain hospitalized, and their condition is being closely watched by doctors.
Police have been informed about the incident, and further investigation is underway. The tragedy has left the entire village in shock and raised concerns about the growing impact of financial stress and mental health issues among young people involved in online business activities.
