Three residents of Tarn Taran district in Punjab have gone missing in Nepal following flash floods triggered by a glacier burst and landslide on August 26.

The missing persons have been identified as Shamsher Singh Sandhu, a resident of village Rattoke, his brother-in-law Bhupinder Singh, and his other brother-in-law's son, Rashpal Singh.

Shamsher Singh was working as a crane operator with Andritz Company at the Trishuli Upper Power House Project in Nepal. Bhupinder Singh and Rashpal Singh were also staying in Nepal.

According to the family, all three lost contact during the flash floods. Gurjant Singh, a family member, said the last communication with Shamsher Singh took place through a WhatsApp video call on August 25. Since then, the family has been unable to contact him or obtain any information about the three men.

Repeated attempts to reach them by phone have failed, increasing anxiety among their family members.

The village panchayat has also stepped in and sought government assistance. Village Sarpanch Shobha Kumari has written to the Tarn Taran Deputy Commissioner, urging the administration to take up the matter with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

The panchayat has requested authorities to coordinate with the ongoing rescue and relief operations in Nepal to ascertain the whereabouts of the missing men. It has also appealed that if the three are found in a safe location, their families should be informed at the earliest.
