A shocking triple murder was reported from Samalkha in Haryana's Panipat district, where three men were allegedly killed after being deliberately run over by a speeding Scorpio SUV. Police suspect the incident was linked to an old personal rivalry and was made to look like a road accident.
The incident took place around 8:45 pm on Wednesday on the Dikadla-Atta Road. According to police, Narendra Singh (46) and Vinod (48), both residents of Dikadla village, were returning home from their fields on a scooter when they met Anip Gahlyan (36).
The three were standing by the roadside talking when a Scorpio coming from the Atta side allegedly rammed into them at high speed before fleeing the spot.
The impact was so severe that Narendra Singh and Anip Gahlyan died on the spot, while Vinod succumbed to his injuries on the way to a hospital in Panipat.
All three victims were married. Narendra was engaged in farming and property dealing, while Anip was a B.Tech graduate.
Family members have alleged that the killings were part of a planned conspiracy stemming from an old enmity and have accused some villagers of intentionally carrying out the attack.
Samalkha DSP Narendra Kadian said that, based on the family's complaint, a murder case has been registered. Three police teams have been constituted to trace and arrest the accused.
