The CIA Staff in Faridkot has arrested two motorcycle-borne men with 12 kg 221 grams of heroin in a major crackdown on drug trafficking. The accused have been identified as Sudagar Singh alias Ghulla and Kawaljit Khan alias Kammu, both residents of Karmuwala village in Tarn Taran district.
A case has been registered against the duo under the NDPS Act at Sadar Faridkot Police Station.
According to police, acting on the directions of SSP Gurbans Singh Bains, a CIA Staff team led by SI Hakam Singh had set up a checkpoint near Chandbaja village on Amritsar-Bathinda National Highway-54 on Thursday night.
During checking, the two accused approached from the Talwandi side on a high-speed motorcycle. On spotting the police, they allegedly tried to turn back and flee but were intercepted and apprehended.
During the search, police recovered six packets of heroin from a kit bag hanging from Kawaljit Khan’s shoulder. The operation was conducted under the supervision of DSP (D) Avtar Singh Rajpal, who reached the spot.
