Ambala STF has arrested two shooters linked to the Rohit Godara gang for allegedly plotting the murder of a Chandigarh-based businessman. The arrested accused have been identified as Bhupendra Singh alias Bhupendra Gujjar alias Thapa, a resident of Badagaon village in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, and Nitin alias Jatta from Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
According to sources, during interrogation the accused revealed that they were assigned to open fire on an immigration businessman located in Sector-20, Chandigarh. The conspiracy is also linked to an extortion case, where on April 22, the Rohit Godara gang had demanded ₹2 crore from a businessman residing in New Sunny Enclave, Kharar.
The victim was also threatened with death if the money was not paid.
It is further reported that after the victim stopped responding to calls, the gang sent the two shooters to carry out the attack. However, before the plan could be executed, both accused were arrested by the STF in Ambala.
Meanwhile, Sector-39 police registered an FIR on April 28 at 5:20 PM, a day after the arrest. Station House Officer Rajiv Kumar stated that the complaint was initially received on the SSP window. Since the victim’s office falls under Sector-19 jurisdiction, there was some delay due to procedural clarity over jurisdiction before registering the FIR.
Police are now also examining audio recordings linked to the case to identify other individuals involved in the extortion and planning of the attack.
