In a joint operation, teams from Jammu & Kashmir Police and Punjab Police raided a flat in Amritsar's Dream City Colony and arrested two young men. During the search, police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, and around 500 grams of suspected narcotic substance.
Following the recovery, security personnel cordoned off the area and launched a detailed investigation.
According to sources, Jammu Police had received crucial intelligence regarding a wanted individual, prompting a team to travel to Amritsar and conduct the operation. The arrested suspects have been identified as Surajdeep Singh, a resident of Sheikhpura, and Harpreet Singh, a resident of Devidaspura. Police have also seized the vehicles belonging to both accused.
DSP Yadvinder Singh said the raid was carried out based on intelligence provided by Jammu Police. He confirmed that both suspects are being interrogated and that investigators are looking into the possible involvement of other individuals connected to the case.
Residents of the locality expressed concern over the recovery of illegal weapons and suspected narcotics from a residential neighborhood. Police officials said the investigation is ongoing and that questioning of the accused may lead to significant revelations. Authorities are also trying to determine the source of the seized weapons and suspected drugs, as well as their intended use.
