Uttar Pradesh government has announced a major relief package for around 3.5 lakh outsourced employees working across various state departments, including a salary hike of up to ₹7,000 per month.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced the measures at an event held at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday. During the programme, the Chief Minister, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, unveiled the logo and website of the Uttar Pradesh Outsourcing Services Corporation (UPCOS). Cheques were also distributed to outsourced employees.
Under the new welfare measures, outsourced employees will receive insurance coverage of up to ₹50 lakh. The government has also announced financial assistance of up to ₹5 lakh for emergency medical treatment and up to ₹10 lakh for air ambulance services.
Unified Digital Record of Outsourced Employees
The newly launched UPCOS portal will create a centralised digital database of outsourced employees working in different government departments. At present, employee-related information is maintained separately by individual departments and outsourcing agencies.
Under the new system, details related to an employee's recruitment, deployment, attendance and salary payments will be recorded on a single online platform.
The portal will also make it easier for the government to track how many outsourced employees are working in each department and how much they are being paid.
Greater Transparency in Recruitment and Payments
The government said the digital system will provide easy access to employees' service records and make monitoring of their deployment and payments more effective.
Officials will be able to access information related to an employee's record, payment and deployment from a single platform. The system is also expected to reduce the possibility of irregularities in processes handled through multiple outsourcing agencies and bring greater transparency to the management of outsourced employees.
