A shocking case of alleged domestic violence has surfaced in Haryana's Faridabad, where a 23-year-old woman claims she was severely burned after her stepparents allegedly poured boiling water on her while she was asleep. The victim alleges that the attack was carried out after she repeatedly refused to marry an elderly man.
According to the woman's statement, her stepparents were forcing her into the marriage and had allegedly struck a deal worth ₹3 lakh. She claimed that when she continued to oppose the arrangement, boiling water was poured on her private parts, leaving her with nearly 50 percent burn injuries. Her chest and hands were also badly scorched in the incident.
The victim further alleged that after the attack, her stepparents prevented her from seeking medical treatment, locked her inside a room, and confiscated her mobile phone. The matter reportedly came to light when a neighboring woman learned about the situation and informed the victim's maternal uncle.
The uncle, accompanied by police personnel, reached the house and rescued the woman. She was initially admitted to BK Hospital in Faridabad but was later referred to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital after her condition was deemed critical.
Police have begun investigating the case and are recording the victim's statement. Officials said further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry and medical reports.
