A tragic accident claimed the life of a woman and left seven others injured after a boulder fell from a hillside in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district on Friday morning.
The incident occurred near Gumma in the Jogindernagar subdivision when a family from Kullu, travelling to the revered Maa Simsa Temple, stopped by the roadside to drink water. At around 10 a.m., a large rock suddenly dislodged from the hill and struck the group.
The deceased has been identified as Rameshwari Sharma, wife of Gopal Krishna and a resident of Sultanpur in Kullu district. She died on the spot due to the impact.
Seven injured family members were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Jogindernagar with the help of local residents and the administration. They are currently undergoing treatment.
According to preliminary information, the family was travelling in two vehicles from Kullu to seek blessings at Maa Simsa Temple when the accident occurred.
Following the incident, police and district administration teams reached the spot and launched rescue and relief operations. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
