Punjab polls: Candidates devise inventive methods to distribute liquor

CHANDIGARH: With just three days to go for assembly elections in Punjab , the candidates contesting in various assembly segments were desperate to device different ways and means as a last-ditch effort to woo the voters. Enticing the voters with liquor is also one of the options but due to strict watch of the Election Commission, the candidates had been made or rather forced to use various forms of inventive methods to tempt the voters especially in the rural areas. Long working hours could cause depression
Workers spending long hours in office are more than twice likely to develop depression than those who do a standard day, with the most susceptible being women, youngsters and the ones drawing low pay with moderate alcohol consumption, says a British study. Researchers found those who spend more than 11 hours a day -- or 55 hours a week -- at their desk faced a higher risk. The most susceptible were women, younger people and those on a low pay grade with moderate alcohol consumption, the Daily Mail reported. More>>

Goa was birthplace of Indo-Western garments: Wendell Rodricks

NEW DELHI:Veteran designer Wendell Rodricks has carried the sartorial legacy of Goa to a new level by documenting it in "Moda Goa" - a first-of-its kind pictorial and illustrative fashion chronicle of the state. He says Goa was the cradle of Indo-Western couture. 

 "Goa was the birthplace of Indo-Western garments," Rodricks told IANS in an interview. The book, "Moda Goa" (HarperCollins-India), which he describes as his tribute to his state, takes a look at the factors that shaped Goa's distinct garment style.
