Government gave huge compensation to farmers : Chief Minister

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has given compensation to the citizens for the huge loss caused to crops, property, livestock and commercial properties in about 12 districts due to heavy rains and floods in the month of July. In this series, today the Chief Minister gave an amount of Rs 97 crore 93 lakh 26 thousand as compensation to 34,511 farmers.

Addressing a press conference here today, the Chief Minister said that the compensation amount given to the farmers also includes the area of 49 thousand 197 acres which was re-sown. Compensation at the rate of Rs 7,000 per acre for such area had already been announced. He said that the compensation given today does not include the cotton crop. Its survey is still going on.

The Chief Minister said that this compensation has been given for crop losses ranging from 25 percent to 100 percent. About Rs 12.81 crore in Ambala district, Rs 18.65 crore in Fatehabad, Rs 26.95 crore in Kurukshetra, Rs 23.60 lakh in Bhiwani, Rs 5.57 crore in Charkhi Dadri, Rs 1.35 crore in Faridabad, Rs 15.43 lakh in Hisar, Rs 1.48 crore in Jhajjar. , Rs 9.89 lakh in Jind, Rs 7.99 crore in Kaithal, Rs 3.09 crore in Karnal, Rs 10.78 crore in Mahendragarh, Rs 5.40 crore in Palwal, Rs 53 thousand in Mewat, Rs 23.31 lakh in Panchkula, Rs 19.88 lakh in Panipat, Rohtak. Compensation of Rs 2.53 crore has been given in Sirsa, Rs 3.20 crore in Sirsa, Rs 5.15 crore in Sonipat, Rs 2.61 crore in Yamunanagar and Rs 7 lakh in Rewari.

An amount of Rs 6.71 crore approved for damage to commercial properties in urban areas.

CM said that a compensation amount of Rs 6 crore 70 lakh 97 thousand 277 has been approved for the damage to commercial properties in the urban area. It will be released soon. He said the state government had launched the compensation portal to bring transparency in the system of verification of losses due to natural disasters and distribution of compensation to the affected people in a timely manner. In the month of July, 1469 villages and 4 cities were declared flood affected in 12 districts of the state namely Ambala, Fatehabad, Faridabad, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal, Panchkula, Panipat, Palwal, Sonipat, Sirsa and Yamunanagar. In view of the floods, apart from the loss of crops, damage to livestock, houses, commercial properties in urban and rural areas, loss of clothes, utensils and other household items were included on the compensation portal.

A total amount of Rs 112 crore 21 lakh has been given as compensation.

CM said that an amount of Rs 5 crore 96 lakh 83 thousand will be deposited in DBT on October 11, 2023 for damage to livestock, houses, commercial properties, clothes, utensils and other household items in rural areas. Through this, it has been deposited directly into the bank accounts. He said 47 people had died in the floods. The government had announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh each to his family. Out of these, an amount of Rs 1 crore 60 lakh has been given to the families of 40 people. The remaining 7 people are being verified. The compensation amount for loss of life was Rs 1 crore 60 lakh. Thus, till now a total amount of Rs 112 crore 21 lakh has been given as compensation for various losses.
