CHANDIGARH: A chandigarh court on Tuesday awarded 25 years rigrous imprisonment to five persons who abdicted and raped a 17 year old girl of Mauklio Jagran near here.
The incident dates back to September 11, 2015 when the five convicts abdicted the girl in their car when she was returning from tution. She was student of 12th class. She had told the police that she managed to reach at a relatives home at 11 pm and narrated the ncident. She was medically examined and all the accused were arrested immediately. The police had booked them under section 363 for adbduction and 376 D (gangrape) of IPC besides section 4 penetrative sexual assault and section 12 sexual harrassment of the protection of children from sexul offences(POCSO) Act.
The convicts have been identified as Chandershekhar 18 of Railway Colony, Bansi 35 of Mani Majra, Surjit Singh 35 ans shekhar Rana 20 of Faidan village and Sahil Verma 22 of sector 68 Mohali. The additional session judge Poonam R Joshi had held them guilty on February 23 last.
