Mohali: Out for a morning walk,a man and his elder sister were killed after being hit by a speeding car in phase11, Mohali, on Monday.
The victims have been identified Amandeep singh(37) And his Elder Sister Inderjit kaur (40) of phase 11,Mohali.They were hit by a spending honda city car while crossing the road on their way back.
The accused driver, Ranjit Singh a budding singer from muktsar, was arrested and later freed on bail.
Amandeep singh was a civil engineer with a private a company, while Inderjit kaur was a teacher with a private school.“I, along with my husband and sister –in law, were returning after the morning walk at around 5:05am.we were crossing the road when I heard a thud behind me and saw the car hiting the two,”Jaswinder kaur,wife of Amandeep told the police.
Amandeep and Inderjit were rushed to GMCH-32, where doctors declared them brought dead. As per the police, Amandeep has a daughter, while his sister has two children.”we have registered a case and even got medical examination of the accused done to ascertain whether he was under the influence of any drug or not, on the basis of the report,further sections could be added,”said Inspector Gurpreet singh Bains,station house Officer (SHO) phase 11.
As per the police,accused Ranjit singh told them that he was a budding Punjabi Singer.Ranjit was apprehended from the spot as he did not try to run away after the accident. He has been booked under Sections 304-A(Causing death by negligence) and 279(rash driving) of the IPS The police have impounded the vehicle
