Punjab to soon start smart classes in 2800 government schools

CHANDIGARH:In a bid to impart education to the students studying in government schools on par with private schools, The Education Department has decided to start smart classes in 2800 govt schools of the state. The motive of this whole exercise is to streamline the education system by delivering quality education.

Disclosing this, Mr. Parshant Goyal, Director General School Education, said that This program is part of the Rs 900 crore project duly approved by Union Human resources Ministry. Divulging details Mr. Goyal said that Rs 50 thousand would be provided to each 1000 primary schools for converting its two classrooms as smart class rooms, whereas this amount would be Rs 3 lakh to each 1800 Senior secondary schools for the same purpose. He said that education would be imparted with practical and creative activities.

Mr. Goyal said that there is a proposal to set up the solar energy plants of 5 kilowatts in 800 senior secondary school spending Rs. 30 crore. He said that the proposal has already been forwarded to centre government for consideration to get adequate funds.

Mr O.P. Soni, Education Minister of Punjab, said that it is a one of the most crucial and important project of the Punjab education department, which aimed at upgrading the education paraphernalia of the state by delivering quality education to the students. He said that this initiative would help in curbing the mushrooming of private school culture in the state. He said that the students emerging out from these smart classes would be able to clear any competitive exam in this cut throat competition era.
