Elderly and Divyang voters can choose the option of voting from home - CEO

 Chandigarh, April 16 –

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Agarwal said that for the 18th Lok Sabha general elections, the Election Commission of India has provided that facility allowing voters aged 85 and above, as well as Divyang voters, to cast their votes from home using a ballot paper. The Booth Level Officer (BLO) should ascertain the number of eligible voters in their area falling within these categories who express a preference for voting from home. As per the instructions from the Election Commission of India, it is imperative to ensure that voters falling within the designated category, who have applied to cast their votes from home, are facilitated to do so accordingly.

He said that BLOs should actively engage in raising awareness among the youth regarding their voting rights. Youth who turned 18 by April 1 have the opportunity to register by April 26, and cast their vote in the Lok Sabha general elections on May 25. Additionally, he mentioned that applications for vote transfer are currently being accepted. Voters wishing to transfer their votes to a different location can conveniently do so through the Election Commission's website, app, or by completing the prescribed form offline at the election office.
