A 21-year-old man was found hanging from a tree near the laundry area of PGI Chandigarh on Friday morning, triggering a police investigation. The deceased has been identified as Rajat, who is survived by his wife and one-and-a-half-year-old son.
According to family members, Rajat had been under mental stress for some time due to an ongoing dispute with his wife. They alleged that the stress may have driven him to take the extreme step. However, police officials said that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated.
The incident came to light when people heading for morning walks and work spotted the body hanging from a tree near the PGI laundry area and informed the police. A team from the PGI police outpost rushed to the spot, brought the body down, and took it into custody.
Rajat was originally a resident of Bijnor district in Uttar Pradesh. He had entered into a love marriage in 2024 and was living with his wife and young son in a rented accommodation in Khuda Lahora. He worked at a laundry shop and frequently visited his parents, who reside in Janata Colony.
The body has been sent for further legal and medical procedures, while police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.
