Amritsar Commissionerate Police have arrested six accused persons and seized 30.045 kilograms of heroin in a major crackdown on drug trafficking in Punjab. The recovered consignment is estimated to be worth around ₹300 crore or more in the international illicit market, depending on its purity and prevailing rates.

According to the preliminary investigation, the arrested individuals were allegedly in contact with a Dubai-based drug smuggler believed to be the key handler of cross-border heroin supply operations.

The accused reportedly collected heroin consignments from designated locations on his instructions and distributed them across various districts of Punjab through a well-organized network.

Police are now working to identify other members of the syndicate and trace the entire supply chain. Investigators are also probing the financial transactions linked to the racket, with initial findings suggesting that hawala channels may have been used for transferring and receiving illicit funds. A detailed investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the international drug trafficking network.
