5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Hits Manipur; Residents Rush Outdoors in Fear

Residents of Manipur were shaken awake early Tuesday morning after a moderate earthquake struck the region. Many people rushed out of their homes in panic and gathered on the streets to ensure their safety.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale. It occurred at 5:59:33 AM IST. Officials stated that the epicenter was located in the Kamjong area of Manipur, at a depth of approximately 62 kilometers below the surface. Scientists have classified it as a medium-depth seismic event.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or damage to property so far.

Tremors Recently Felt in North India

Earlier this month, several parts of North India also experienced strong tremors. Around April 3 at approximately 9:46 PM, the ground shook across Delhi NCR, Punjab, and Haryana. The epicenter of that earthquake was in Afghanistan, and tremors were felt for several seconds.
