A ₹7 lottery ticket has changed the fortunes of a labourer’s family in Kotkapura, Punjab, with Bimla Devi winning a whopping ₹1 crore prize in a Sikkim government lottery.
The news brought immense joy to the family, while neighbours and local residents congratulated them on the unexpected windfall.
Bimla Devi had purchased the lottery ticket just a day before the results were announced from the Star Lottery Stall near the railway station. She had visited Railway Road in the evening to buy some household items when she decided to try her luck and bought a ticket worth just ₹7.
At the time, she had no idea that the small purchase would bring such a major change in her family’s life.
The following evening, when the lottery results were declared, her ticket emerged as the winner of the ₹1 crore prize. Naresh Monga, the owner of the lottery stall, informed the family about the life-changing win.
Overjoyed by the news, the family members immediately reached the lottery stall to share their happiness. The shopkeeper congratulated them and celebrated the occasion by offering sweets.
The celebration turned festive, with family members also performing bhangra to mark their extraordinary stroke of luck.
Bimla Devi’s husband works as a daily-wage labourer and supports the family through his earnings. The unexpected lottery win has brought a wave of happiness to the household, turning an ordinary ₹7 purchase into a moment the family is unlikely to forget.
