Punjab Police’s Counter-Intelligence wing has busted a drug smuggling network in Amritsar, arresting four alleged smugglers and recovering 10 kg of heroin worth approximately ₹50 crore in the international market.

The identities of the arrested accused have not yet been disclosed.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were in contact with drug smugglers based abroad and were allegedly operating on their instructions to procure heroin consignments and supply them to different locations across Punjab.

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav shared details of the operation on his X handle, stating that the initial investigation had revealed links between the arrested suspects and overseas smugglers.

Police are now questioning the accused to establish the identities of their alleged foreign handlers and trace the intended destinations of the recovered heroin consignment.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) police station in Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to uncover the wider network and identify other people involved in the alleged drug trafficking operation.
