Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday staged protests across several districts of Punjab against the Shiromani Akali Dal and SAD leader Sukhbir Singh Badal. The party alleged that a fake video involving Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is being circulated to mislead the public and damage his image.
In Amritsar, AAP leaders and workers gathered outside the residence of BJP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh and staged a strong demonstration. Protesters raised slogans against the BJP, accusing the party of attempting to disturb Punjab’s atmosphere through “religion-based and hate politics.”
Addressing the gathering, MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta said the BJP is trying to divide people on religious lines, but asserted that the people of Punjab will not allow such politics to succeed. He added that AAP is a movement-based party and its workers cannot be influenced by pressure or incentives.
In Moga, AAP held a major protest at Joginder Chowk against the Shiromani Akali Dal. The demonstration saw participation from MLAs of all four constituencies of the district, along with party officials and a large number of workers. Leaders demanded strict action against those allegedly involved in creating and spreading the fake video.
Meanwhile, in Pathankot, AAP workers staged another protest at Valmiki Chowk under the leadership of district president Amandeep Singh Sandhu. This demonstration was directed against the BJP, particularly targeting Chandigarh BJP chief Jatinder Kumar Malhotra, with party leaders accusing the BJP of trying to create political unrest in the state.
