Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday launched a nationwide signature campaign following a Sundarkand recital and Hanuman Ji's Aarti at Japanese Park in Delhi's Rohini, demanding strict action against those allegedly involved in the alleged "Chanda-Chori" (donation theft) linked to the Shri Ram Mandir.
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the campaign by signing a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging an impartial investigation and the harshest punishment for those found guilty. Thousands of devotees attending the event also signed the letter, while Kejriwal appealed to supporters across the country to organize Hanuman Chalisa recitations, perform Hanuman Aarti, and collect signatures in their localities.
Addressing the gathering, Kejriwal alleged that irregularities, including a land purchase scam, alleged commissions in construction works, and the alleged theft of devotees' donations, had deeply hurt the sentiments of millions of Ram devotees. He claimed that the accused were being protected and called for complete transparency and accountability in the matter.
The AAP leader urged Prime Minister Modi, whom he described as a self-proclaimed devotee of Lord Ram, to ensure that the truth is brought before the public and that no guilty person is shielded. He maintained that those responsible for the alleged wrongdoing should face the strictest punishment under the law.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who attended the event along with Delhi AAP President Saurabh Bharadwaj and other party leaders, echoed Kejriwal's demand, stating that the faith of crores of devotees had been deeply affected by the allegations. He appealed to the Prime Minister to ensure an independent probe and bring the truth before the nation.
During the program, Kejriwal and his wife Sunita Kejriwal participated in the recitation of the Hanuman Chalisa and Sundarkand. The party said the signature campaign would now be expanded across the country, with volunteers organizing religious gatherings and collecting signatures on the letter addressed to the Prime Minister.
The letter accuses those managing the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi-related affairs of failing to protect devotees' contributions and calls for a thorough investigation into the allegations, while urging the government to ensure accountability and justice. It is important to note that these allegations represent the claims made by AAP leaders, and any determination of wrongdoing would depend on the outcome of official investigations and legal proceedings.
