A college student was allegedly attacked by an American Bully dog that had been left unleashed outside a house in Ludhiana’s Daba area, leaving him injured and prompting police to register a case against two individuals.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on September 26 when Arpit Agrawal, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar on Daba Lohara Road and a BCA student, was on his way to the gym. As he passed a house in the locality, he noticed an American Bully dog roaming freely outside.
Arpit said he stopped after spotting the dog, fearing that running away could provoke an attack. He alleged that the dog first sniffed him before biting his leg. The animal then clamped its jaws onto his thigh and knocked him to the ground.
Hearing his cries for help, local residents rushed to the spot and attempted to free him, but the dog reportedly remained aggressive. An elderly man sitting nearby eventually managed to rescue Arpit by striking the dog with a stick, forcing it to release its grip.
The victim further alleged that family members of Aman and Raman tried to control the dog after the attack, but it had become uncontrollable. Residents later intervened and succeeded in separating the animal from the injured student.
Arpit claimed that when the dog was taken back inside the house, it again attempted to bite despite the owners being present. He also alleged that the same dog had previously bitten his maternal uncle, Pankaj Sood, but was still being allowed to roam freely.
The student further alleged that when the dog’s owner came outside after the incident, instead of expressing concern, he claimed that the injuries were from an old wound.
Based on Arpit’s complaint, Daba Police have registered a case against Aman and Raman, sons of Pawan and residents of Guru Nanak Nagar, Daba Lohara Road. Police said an investigation into the matter is underway.
