Punjab government has stepped up preparations for the implementation of the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann convening a meeting of the seven-member coordination committee formed for the purpose.
The meeting will be held at 1 pm on September 27 at the Chief Minister's official residence.
Discussions are expected to focus on various aspects of the amended legislation, including its implementation framework, operational procedures, and coordination among stakeholders involved in enforcing the law.
The seven-member committee has been tasked with formulating a strategy for the effective implementation of the amended Act and ensuring coordination among all concerned parties. The meeting is expected to play a key role in determining the roadmap for the law's rollout across the state.
The panel is headed by Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat and includes Cabinet Ministers Hardeep Singh Mundian, Jaswant Singh Gajjan Majra, and Gurmeet Singh Khudian. Other members are Baba Seva Singh of Rampur Khera, AIIPM Chairman Jatinder Singh Aulakh, and Advocate S. Prit Inder Pal Singh of Lamma Pind.
The Punjab government recently passed the amendment with the stated objective of strengthening provisions related to the respect and sanctity of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, and the coordination committee has been entrusted with facilitating its smooth implementation.
