Amritsar Commissionerate Police have busted a major international drug and arms smuggling network, arresting four alleged traffickers and recovering 5.557 kilograms of heroin along with two pistols. The operation marks a significant success in Punjab Police's ongoing crackdown on narcotics and illegal weapons.
According to the Punjab Director General of Police (DGP), preliminary investigations have revealed that the arrested suspects were in contact with foreign-based smugglers.
The accused allegedly received consignments of heroin and firearms from across the border and supplied them to criminal elements operating in Punjab and other regions. Police believe the network is linked to an international cross-border smuggling syndicate.
Separate FIRs have been registered at Islamabad Police Station and Chheharta Police Station in Amritsar. Investigating agencies are now working to trace the entire network, identify additional suspects, and uncover their overseas connections.
Police officials said the seizure of a large quantity of heroin and illegal firearms indicates a conspiracy to fuel drug trafficking and unlawful weapon supply in Punjab, posing a serious threat to law and order. The arrested accused are being interrogated, and further raids are being carried out based on leads obtained during the investigation.
