Amritsar Rural Police have arrested seven accused and recovered 14 newly manufactured pistols and 20 kg of heroin during an operation against illegal arms and drug trafficking networks.

Preliminary investigations have revealed alleged links between the network and a handler based abroad. According to police, the accused were in contact with the foreign-based handler, who allegedly arranged the supply of illegal arms through an organised network and distributed them further to criminals.

The recovered heroin is estimated to be worth crores of rupees in the international market.

Police are now investigating the network's wider connections and identifying other individuals involved in the supply of illegal weapons and narcotics. Efforts are also underway to trace the source of the recovered arms and heroin and establish links with other drug traffickers and criminal gangs.

Cases have been registered at Gharinda and Kathunangal police stations in connection with the seizures. Further investigation is underway to identify other members of the alleged network and uncover its links to organised criminal activities.
