Apple products could soon become more expensive as the company struggles with soaring memory and storage chip costs. Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that the company can no longer absorb the rising expenses, making price hikes unavoidable.
In an interview, Cook said Apple had been trying to shield customers from increasing component costs, but the situation has become unsustainable due to the sharp rise in prices of RAM and storage chips, largely driven by growing AI-related demand. He did not specifically mention the iPhone 18 lineup but indicated that higher prices across Apple products are becoming inevitable.
Industry reports suggest that Apple may need to increase the price of the iPhone 18 Pro by around ₹25,000–₹30,000 to maintain its existing profit margins. The cost of 12GB RAM used in the device has reportedly jumped from around $39 for the iPhone 17 Pro to nearly $145 for the upcoming model, while storage component costs have also surged significantly.
Based on current cost estimates and Apple's pricing strategy, analysts believe the iPhone 18 Pro could start at around $1,399 in the US. In India, the final retail price is expected to be even higher after taxes and import-related costs are added, making the next-generation iPhone one of Apple's most expensive smartphones yet.
